HAF FOCUS AREAS
The Hillsong Africa Foundation has reimagined it’s vision of ‘Building lives that will build a nation’ to focus within the 16-30 age group at three development areas: High Schools, Shelters & Community Centres and Prisons.
We believe that by taking our development programs like Shine, Strength, Grow, Accelerate and Agricultural training we can equip and empower individuals to build their lives which will in turn impact families and communities and will ultimately lead to building a nation

HIGH SCHOOLS
We are currently working at various high schools across Cape Town and Gauteng and are committed to working with education departments and heads of schools to help equip and empower young people to make decisions that will benefit their futures. Our development programs like Shine (for girls) and Strength (for boys) help address identity, value, vision, decision making and navigating various emotions toward positive outcomes.
Our job readiness program, Accelerate, will also help prepare young people for the employment journey as well as equip them with tools to make decisions about what they want to do after school.
Our commitment is to be in each school for a minimum of 12 months to 3 years in order to journey with learners towards sustainable growth and change.

SHELTERS & COMMUNITY CENTRES
Shelters and Community Centres are fairly transitional places but we are committed to having maximum and sustainable impact through our development programs. Our Shine (for women) and Strength (for men) programs form part of our baseline intervention and based on the needs of the specific area, we will expand our impact through our Grow (for parents/caregivers). Accelerate and Agricultural Training programs. Our goal is to equip individuals with as many tools and as much knowledge that will help them build and rebuild their lives.
Our commitment to each area is a minimum of 6 months up to 3 years and to design our interventions based on a needs analysis of each area as our shelters and community centres cover a wide variety of needs, including a home for women and girls in crisis pregnancies and a home providing young men from impoverished communities with a safe and supportive environment to focus on their futures.

PRISONS
In a country with very high crime rates, we believe that it’s our calling and duty to impact those negative statistics towards the positive if we are going to ‘Build lives that will help build a nation’.
We currently work in and have relationship with four correctional facilities across the Western Cape and Gauteng. We do weekly church services on a Sunday as well as mid-week development programs (Shine and Strength) across these correctional facilities.
Our Aftercare journey is also a focus as we aim to reintegrate those who are being released, back into society through restorative justice programs and supporting them on their journey to becoming positive contributors to society as well as help lower the recidivism rate.
As correctional facilities can also be a transitional place, we commit to a minimum of 6 months to 3 years (and beyond) in each correctional facility.
